FIRST AID SKILLS UPDATE

The First Aid Skills Update course is for those wishing to update their skills within any 3 year period of completing the First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work qualifications. Because the existing First Aid at Work course has been reduced in duration, the HSE now strongly recommends that first aiders undertake annual skills update training.

The course consists of delegates showing their competence to:

· Assess the situation in an emergency

· Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious

· Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

· Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding

· Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock

· Update skills to meet any changes to protocol

· Discussion of any individual concerns

Delegates will be continuously assessed on their skills throughout the duration of the course.

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a Skills Update Certificate which will be valid for 1 year.

Courses are scheduled throughout the year at D&B Training. Alternatively, courses can be arranged at your premises subject to minimum number requirements being met.
