LORRY LOADER
TRAINING
This course is designed to
achieve the skill requirements and associated job safety knowledge of basic
Lorry Loader operation. This is to the nationally recognised RTITB (Road Transport
Industry Training Board) levels of skill, ability and safety.
The course consists of:
- Lorry Loader Operators must be able to identify
the basic construction, purpose and function of components and the purpose
and use of all the controls and gauges
- Identify and comply with manufacturers’
instructions in accordance with the operator’s handbook, other information
sources and applicable legislation
- Carry out pre-use checks
- Configure the carrier vehicle for site and road
travel
- Manoeuvre the carrier vehicle into position in
order to carry out the lifting of various loads
- Set up carrier vehicle to carry out lifts from
minimum to maximum radius
- Select, check and use correct lifting gear for
the lifting of various loads
- Lifting and place loads at varying radii
- Explain precautions to be taken for underground
and overhead services and other hazards
- Keep within safe working parameters.
