CRANE
TRAINING
(Various)
The aim of this course is to train selected delegates
in the safe operation and
use of cranes in their workplace. Potential crane
operators must be over the age of 18, be physically fit, have good eyesight, hearing
ability and be able to judge distances.
The course consists of:

Operating safely
and correctly in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and accepted good
practice
·
Site and operate
machine safely in response to given task and signals using outriggers where
applicable
·
Recognise defects
and hazards that affect crane motions
·
Having an
understanding of responsibilities under HSWA & other current relevant
legislation
·
To be able to
demonstrate both theoretically and practically the use of pendant operation and
pendant operation and slinging methods to move loads
·
Pre-operational
checks/Risk Assessment
·
Planning of
method to be used in moving load
·
Safe loading
rules (weight, height, clearance etc)
·
Good Workshop
Practice when using crane use of hand signals
·
Safety of others
in Workshop area
